About Dr. Diane

After nearly two decades as a writer, editor and product
developer, I went back to college and changed careers from
publishing to Somatic Trauma Therapy. Some people think that's a
big leap, but both fields embrace communication and creativity,
qualities that enrich life.
Born
in Pasadena, CA, but reared and educated in the Midwest, I earned
my B.A. in English Composition from DePauw University. After
a post-graduate art history tour of Europe, I moved to Los Angeles
and began my career in publishing. Twenty years later, in
1989, my lifelong interest in health and emotional growth lead me
to a life altering decision to follow my dream, culminating in a
Masters and Doctoral degrees from U.I.L., the University for Integrative Learning in
BodyMind Therapy.
I
am fascinated with how all of us are effected by stressors such as
depression, tension, fear, anxiety and trauma. Now as a
practitioner in that field, I use a number of approaches, both
hands-on and verbal--at times with humor--to help people overcome
their obstacles and enjoy their innate gifts and powers.
I
believe every cell's DNA holds the key: the ability to recover
from trauma and the deep-seated desire for optimal function and
vitality. Our minds and bodies are programmed to overcome
enormous challenges. This approach heightens your quality of
life by revitalizing your own physical and mental resources, overcoming
life's many challenges. Besides my private practice, I've been
fortunate to study both in the U.S. and in China, serve on the LA Marathon
Volunteers and on the faculty of The National Holistic Institute,
Total Woman and guest lecture on Stress Management at Pierce
College. I'm a member of the International Association of
Healthcare Practitioners, Foundation for Human Enrichment and a
listee in Who's Who in the West and Outstanding Young Women of
America.
